Ian Dixon (CEO and Executive Director) Mr Dixon is CEO of Genscreen Pty Ltd, the holding company Genscreen Group (www.genscreen.com.au). He has extensive international business experience in the biomedical industry and is a practised founder/CEO of internationally-focused technology businesses. Ian previously worked at Vision Systems Ltd as the head of the Invetech Product Group, heading up a team of over 100 scientists, engineers, software developers and industrial designers. This team developed a range of FDA-compliant diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices sold internationally through partners such as Baxter International, Leica and Vision Biosystems. Vision Systems Ltd was sold to US Danaher Corp in October 2006 for around $700m.
Ian has previously founded two businesses which were acquired by public companies and combines an in-depth understanding of technology along with business acumen and experience in high-value international partnerships in the technology and biotech sectors. Ian is also an honorary Chairman of the Victorian Committee of Ausbiotech – Australia’s biotechnology industry association (www.ausbiotech.org) and a non-executive Board member of Innovic (www.innovic.com.au) a not-for-profit leader in providing services to innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs and for-profit enterprises. Ian has worked in Australia, Cambridge (UK) and the USA, with extensive business dealings in Asia, Japan and China. Qualifications include an MBA, Bachelor of Engineering and studies in Biomedical Engineering at Monash University.

Dr Ian Smart (Executive Director of Genscreen) Ian Smart has years of experience in biotechnology research, government grants, biotechnology IP commercialisation and dealing with research institutes and universities. Ian has a PhD in immunology from Melbourne University and has worked at a senior level in both private and public sector organisations. Ian has strong networks in government and the Australian scientific research community, and is now building a broader network in USA, Japan and Europe. Ian is a founder Director of Genscreen.
